IP Lookup Workspace
Uses ipquery.io with ipwho.is fallback

Submitting sends the requested address, when supplied, and necessarily your connection IP to ipquery.io. Only a network error, HTTP 429, or HTTP 5xx retries through ipwho.is; invalid input and other client errors do not. Both services return approximate data, and KitLumi provides no availability SLA. KitLumi does not proxy, store, or log the lookup.

Que fait IP Address Lookup ?

IP Address Lookup permet de inspecter des données dans le navigateur et présente clairement le résultat et ses limites. Fonctions vérifiées : IPv4 and IPv6 lookup, ASN information, Two-provider failover, Approximate geolocation.

IP lookup is approximate and API-backed

Use this lookup for coarse network and ASN context, not identity or precise location. ipquery.io is primary; ipwho.is is contacted only after a network error, rate limit, or server error. Use the local Subnet Calculator for CIDR arithmetic, and choose a contracted provider with an SLA for production-critical work.

Comment l’utiliser ?

  1. Enter a public IPv4 or IPv6 address, or leave the field blank to request information about the current connection.
  2. Select Look up IP; this sends the requested address and connection IP to ipquery.io. Only a network error, HTTP 429, or HTTP 5xx retries the same lookup through ipwho.is.
  3. Treat country, region, city, coordinates, organization, ASN, and time zone as approximate provider data; neither the free lookup workflow nor KitLumi offers an availability SLA.

Network ownership and approximate location can change, so the live provider response is more authoritative than a hard-coded example.

Erreurs fréquentes et corrections

SymptômeCause probableCorrection
The provider rejects the address and no fallback runs. The input is malformed, private, reserved, or otherwise produces a client error. KitLumi falls back only for a network error, HTTP 429, or HTTP 5xx.Check the address syntax and use a public routable address; do not expect private LAN addresses to have public geolocation.
The reported city differs from the device location.IP geolocation estimates a network endpoint or allocation, not a person or GPS position.Use the result only for low-risk approximate context and never for identity or high-impact decisions.
Both lookup providers are unavailable.A public endpoint may be rate-limited, unreachable, or temporarily fail; the free workflow has no uptime guarantee.Retry later, or use a provider plan with an SLA for production-critical work.

Important behavior of IP Lookup

Limite propre à cet outil : IP geolocation is approximate, both public endpoints can fail without an availability SLA, and the result is not suitable for identifying a person or making high-impact decisions.

IP Lookup — FAQ

Does the IP Lookup upload my input?

After you choose Look up IP, the requested address and your connection IP are sent directly to ipquery.io. Only a network error, HTTP 429, or HTTP 5xx sends the same lookup to ipwho.is. KitLumi does not proxy or store the response.

What input does the IP Lookup accept?

It accepts an IP address or a blank field for the current public address. The workspace checks the input and reports malformed or unsupported values before it produces a result.

What does the IP Lookup produce?

It produces country, region, city, coordinates, ASN, organization, and time zone from ipquery.io or the conditional ipwho.is fallback. Copy and download controls appear when the output format supports them.

What limitation should I know?

IP geolocation is approximate, both public endpoints can fail without an availability SLA, and the result is not suitable for identifying a person or making high-impact decisions.

Quelles modifications ?

Mise à jour substantielle : IP Lookup: Added IPv4 and IPv6 lookup, ASN information, Two-provider failover, Approximate geolocation, responsive controls, explicit runtime disclosure, and task-specific examples and limitations.
