How to convert cURL to Fetch or Python and review conversion warnings
Paste a cURL command up to 64 KiB, choose JavaScript Fetch or Python Requests, and generate reviewable code. A browser Worker parses the command using locally hosted WASM files. It does not execute the command, access @file references, or contact the request destination.
How do you do it?
- Paste a cURL command or open a local .txt or .sh file.
- Select JavaScript Fetch or Python Requests and choose Run.
- Review warnings, credentials, headers, and body handling before copying or downloading the generated code.
Convert a basic GET request to Fetch
The converter writes source text. No request to example.com is sent, and the generated code is not executed.
Input:
curl 'https://example.com/api' -H 'Accept: application/json'
Output:
fetch('https://example.com/api', {
headers: {
'Accept': 'application/json'
}
});When is this workflow useful?
Use this tool to start a client implementation from a cURL example. Use URL Encoder to inspect query components and JSON Formatter to inspect request bodies. Test generated code only in the intended runtime after reviewing warnings.
What should you check before relying on the result?
This tool does not bypass CORS, execute commands, access referenced files, verify endpoints, or guarantee semantic equivalence. Shell substitutions may become placeholders or target-language expressions and require review. Tokens remain visible in the generated code; copying or downloading preserves them. Input is capped at 64 KiB.
What can go wrong?
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| A command cannot be parsed. | The input is not supported cURL shell syntax or has unbalanced quotes. Paste a complete cURL command and check quotes; PowerShell and CMD syntax may need conversion to Bash-style syntax. |
| Generated Fetch code behaves differently from cURL. | Browser CORS, restricted headers, credentials, and unsupported cURL flags do not have identical semantics. Review visible warnings and adjust the code for its actual runtime; formatting success is not an HTTP execution test. |
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to upload data or sign in?
No. Processing runs in the current browser. This site serves the page and required static engine assets.
Why does the result disappear after I edit the input?
The tool clears stale output so a previous result cannot be mistaken for the new one. Run again after changing input or settings.
